UK Population Biology Network
UKPopNet is a network of institutions funded by the Natural Environment Research Council (NERC) after international peer review from April 2004, with additional support initially from English Nature and subsequently from Natural England. It was founded by researchers from some of Britain’s leading research Universities - Aberdeen, East Anglia, Leeds, Sheffield, York - and the Centre for Ecology and Hydrology.
UKPopNet's work focuses on two questions of pressing importance to science and society:
(i) how will biodiversity change affect the sustainability of ecosystems, landscapes, and livelihoods?
(ii) how can we mitigate those effects?
UKPopNet funds or participates in a series of interinstitutional projects and studentships. We have also promoted a series of working groups and workshops.
